Pulsar360, Inc. addresses the 911 emergency telephone problem

Users of Pulsar360, Inc. telephone services do not require a caller to dial 9 to make an outside call.

Littleton, Colorado: Users of Pulsar360, Inc.’s Cloud PBX & Premised Based Telecommunication Systems do not need to dial 9, or any other special number for an outside line. This is a feature that could potentially save lives.

On December 1, 2013 a horrific attack was perpetrated against a mother of three. One of her children did their best to call 911 from a hotel room, but unfortunately the nine year-old making the call was unaware that she had to dial 9 for an outside line. The mother passed away and that family has been changed forever.

As a result of this unfortunate event – Kari’s Law was passed by the State of Texas that requires all “multi-line” telephone systems to have the ability to simply dial “911” from any phone without having to either dial a “1” or “9” to access an outside line. In addition to Texas, versions of Kari’s Law have been passed in Suffolk County, N.Y., Illinois, Maryland, and Tennessee. Similar legislation is being considered in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and other states.

According to American Police Beat, the average response time for an emergency call is 10 minutes.

"As a telecommunications provider, we are pleased to help customers reach emergency responders as quickly as possible when seconds count and its a matter of life and death," said Bob Harrison, Partner, VP of Sales.

In a time of stress and emergency - remembering what needs to be done, or knowing where to look for the information, in order to get an outside line can be difficult. Those few minutes figuring out what went wrong when the phone call doesn’t go through can be the difference between life and death. Phone systems should make people feel safe, feel connected. Pulsar360, Inc. knows this and has taken steps so those important and life altering phone calls can be made, avoiding the hassle of not knowing whether someone first needs to dial 9 to make an outside call or any other number before calling 911.
